to all the artists out there!
hey, i know a lot of artists work with large scale paper, stuff that doesn't fit well onto a scanner. if you put things up with a digital camera, take a look at http://www.giveawayoftheday.com by 3 am EST, they have a program up for free that is designed to fix the distortion caused by taking a photo of a document.

    ow...
any of you out there ever drip candle wax on yourself? then you know that it can be rather painful if you aren't expecting it. well, i was just getting ready for bed, used the bathroom, washed my hands, go to dry them, and then feel BURNING HOT CANDLE WAX ALL OVER MY FOOT! some idiot decided to wrap the cord to the candle warmer through the hand towel rack, and then my mother decided to leave the thing on. so when i pull the towel, it pulls on the cord, knocking the thing over and spilling a jar full of melted wax all over the floor, and, oddly enough, my FOOT, which just happened to BE on that floor! honestly, before tonight, i had no idea that i could bring my foot up high enough to stick it in the sink in such a cramped space. (it's a well sink in a half bath) and to add insult to injury, i then had to peel all of that wax off the floor. and seeing as how it's a nice cold tile floor, it instantly solidified and STUCK to the floor. that happened half an hour ago, and my foot STILL burns. i called my mother up to tell her what her carelessness in leaving the thing on had caused, and HER only concern was that i get all the wax off of the floor! gah! i'm going to bed, maybe in the morning i just won't bother to get out, because i swear, it's just not worth the effort of chewing through the restraints anymore.

    oh yeah
i almost forgot to post this! it just amazes me how much somebody can change in five years. the other day, while i was at work, i ran into somebody i hadn't seen since high school. for as long as i've known him, he's been kind of lanky, i believe the term is 'all knees and elbows'. i saw him saturday, and god damn! he looks a hell of a lot hotter than he did in school! :p

    dreams
well, i had a rather interesting dream last night. though, i'm not sure it could be called that. you know that time between when you are asleep and when you are awake, where you know you are dreaming, but can still fully experience the dream? it was one of those. in it, i was in a plane, that was going down a highway to pick up speed, then it took off. but the pilot wasn't very good, he kept scraping the wingtips on cars and guardrails. well, we flew around for a while, he did a barrel roll, then we saw a giant roller coaster, so he decided to fly along the tracks. well, the tracks went into a cave, so he did too. i remember that the wings scraped the walls when we first went in, but then the walls came in five feet. not narrowed, but came in, like a sheer cliff. needless to say, the wings got torn off the plane. and that's when i woke up in the dream. i got out of bed and wandered around to find myself in a hotel. i made it to the lobby, only to hear about people talking about the crash i had just dreamed about. so i said something, and the next thing i know, i'm in the cave, and in the way of dreams, i remembered meeting a world famous detective, and a girl who'd had the same dream. together, we found pieces of the wreckage that weren't exactly obvious, like pieces that had fallen off when the wingtips scraped the wall. later, we were joined by another kid, and found still more wreckage. after a while, we were having lunch, in which croissants were had, yum. for some reason, there were characters from a book series i listen to at night in there as well, helping the wounded from the roller coaster. and that's when i got a text on my phone that woke me up.

(I work at an animal hospital, which also helps adopt out strays. It’s a slow day, so I walk into the lobby cradling a kitten for anyone that is interested.)

    Customer: “Is that your cat?”

Me: “No, this little guy is one of our strays. He needs a home.”

Customer: “Do you have any stray dogs?”

Me: “Yes, we have a couple of dogs that are available for adoption. However, we have more cats and they are easier to walk around with.”

Customer: “Never was a fan of cats. Dogs are always so friendly and loyal. You could die in your chair and your dog would just lie right next to you until they died too. A cat would probably start eating the flesh off your bones!”

except that a cat WILL eat your dead body...they are carnivores, and they are relatively new to domestication. they may treat you as just a rather large cat, but in they end, you are just meat.

    i'm home!
well, family got home about one a.m. on sunday morning, so we unloaded the car and promptly collapsed into bed. slept until about noon, then did all my post-vacation running around, bleh. procrastinated on posting this, went to work today, and am finally getting around to posting. had a great time in virginia, went to busch gardens, saw the clydesdales, including one that was 19.5 hands tall! for those that don't know, that's about ten feet tall, or, the size of a LARGE warhorse! i could be mistaken, but i believe that horses average 15-18 hands, with a hand being approximately 4-6 inches. (help me out here, 'tivo?) aaanyways. saw a bunch of historical williamsburg, which is a lot like greenfield village for you michiganders, only not nearly as fun. a lot of historical dress and reenactments and whatnot, but you can't go into the houses. left there friday, spent friday afternoon and about half of saturday touring washington d.c. which was pretty cool. lots of monuments, wish we'd been able to stay there longer. saw randy jackson outside a train station there! :p tried to get a picture, but i only got him turning away (bleh) but, he did wave to the tour bus. nobody even recognized him until i pointed him out :p. all in all, a good vacation, even if i did have to put up with my nephews (i do NOT like screaming children!)

    vacation time!
my family is leaving for williamsburg, virginia, shortly, and we'll be gone for about a week and a half. i'll try to get online, but if you don't hear from me, you know why :) feel free to text me if you have my number, but i probably won't answer any calls, as i'll likely be right with a family member, and, well, that would be rude :p

    name that book!
    should be obvious :p

the lions sing and the hills take flight
the moon by day and the sun by night.
blind woman, deaf man, jackdaw fool,
let the lord of chaos rule.

now, you need to name both the book and the author, mind. no googling!

so, i figured i'd post a little challenge!

where did the word breakfast come from?

what is the only 9 letter word in the english language that when you remove one letter at a time, still makes a word, right down to the last letter?
